Waterloo Region Home Builders’ Association
ANNOUNCES ITS 43rd PRESIDENT

WATERLOO REGION, ON (May 30, 2016) – Waterloo Region Home Builders’ Association (WRHBA) is pleased to announce its 43rd President, Mr. Kevin Fergin. He succeeds Graem Jackson.

Kevin was elected to the WRHBA Board of Directors in 2012 and the following year he was appointed to the Executive Committee.  As a Board Officer, he has moved up through the ranks annually holding the positions of Treasurer, 2nd and then 1st Vice President ahead of becoming President of the award winning Home Builder chapter. Kevin also serves on a number of WRHBA’s liaison committees including the Region of Waterloo and the City of Kitchener, as well as various ad-hoc committees. In addition, he is a member of the Ontario Home Builders’ Association’s Board of Directors.

Working out of Stantec Consulting Ltd.’s Waterloo Region office, Kevin is the Sector Lead for Community Development group in Canada East for Stantec and the office leader of over 350 staff. Kevin’s experience spans more than 17 years in professional consulting engineering as project director and technical consultant responsible for the business growth of the Community Development practice across eastern Canada. Kevin’s recent notable projects in Waterloo Region include the environmental cleanup and upgrades to Victoria Park Lake in Kitchener, the Lutherwood Children’s Mental Health facility expansion in Waterloo, and most recently is involved in the long awaited expansion of the Cambridge Memorial Hospital.

Kevin is a LEED Green Associate, holds an Honours Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Waterloo, and his Professional Engineering License from the Professional Engineers of Ontario.

In addition to his work at Stantec, Kevin is a Past President of the Brantford Home Builders’ Association (2010), a member of the City of Kitchener Economic Development Committee, a member of the Board of Directors Sustainable Waterloo Region and a director-at-large for Family and Children Services Agency Board of Waterloo Region.

Having worked hands on in a local family home building business that has built over 500 homes in Waterloo Region, Kevin has firsthand knowledge of the home building industry and a natural passion for advocacy to ensure that everyone enjoys the benefits of affordable home ownership in our community.

Since 1946, the Waterloo Region Home Builders’ Association (WRHBA) has been “the voice of residential development and construction industry”—one of the most vital and enterprising industries in Canada. WRHBA represents over 200 member companies comprised of all disciplines involved in residential construction. WRHBA Ray of Hope Renovation

Tuesday, March 4th, 2014

In March 2014, the Waterloo Region Home Builders’ Association (WRHBA) was pleased to announce the launch of a community cooperative construction project in support of Ray of Hope. Since 1967, Ray of Hope has been a highly valued community outreach organization that provides care, hope and support to people who are disadvantaged, marginalized, or troubled.

With the combined efforts of WRHBA member companies including Conestoga College, a six week renovation got underway on March 3rd. The renovation transformed existing space into new offices, a reception area and a common gathering place at Ray of Hope’s King Street East location in Kitchener. Over 60 students from the college’s Centre for Construction Trades Outreach Program (CCTOP) and Women in Skilled Trades (WIST) assisted in the renovation alongside a multitude of WRHBA trades people, contractors and industry stakeholders who lent their skills, expertise, time, talent and donations to offset the construction cost. Through this ‘living classroom’, students were able to get a first-hand account and exposure to the fundamentals of best building practices, and better understood how and what they learned in school translates to the work site.

WRHBA would like to thank everyone who was involved in the renovation process, without their assistance, the project could not have been completed.
